HILO, Hawaii (AP) — Two people have been killed in a head-on collision on Highway 19 near Onomea on the Big Island.
The Hawaii County Fire Department reports that the accident occurred Sunday evening near the 8-mile marker at the Hanawi Bridge.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser says four people also were injured in the crash when a full-sized truck collided with a sport utility vehicle.
The names of the victims have not been released.
Police closed the highway and re-routed traffic to the Onomea scenic route during their investigation.
