KONA, Hawaii (AP) — A 55-year-old Kona man has been killed in a collision.
Police say Bryan Hanato was killed in a one-car collision on Saturday in south Kona.
Hanato was traveling north on Highway 11 when he lost control of his car. The two-door sedan ran off the road and overturned just north of mile marker 105.
Hanato was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the car. He was taken to Kona Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say this was the 33rd traffic fatality on the Big Island this year compared with 16 at this time last year.
