Man charged in weekend stabbing
(KPUA) A Ka`u man has been charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder following a Saturday afternoon stabbing near a Hilo beach park.
Police responding to a 2:15 p.m. call arrived to find that a 41 year old Hilo man sustained multiple stab wounds to the back during an altercation off Keaukaha Road near 4-Mile Beach Park, and was taken to Hilo Medical Center in critical, but stable condition. 46-year old Paul Gibson of Ocean View was arrested minutes later on Laukapu Street in Hilo and was charged Tuesday with second-degree attempted murder, third-Degree assault, two counts of terroristic threatening, five forearms offenses, resisting an order to stop and failure to provide a DNA sample.
Gibson is being held at the Hilo police cellblock on $374,000 bail pending todays initial court appearance.
