One man was killed and another has been arrested following a fatal traffic accident early Sunday on 29th Avenue in Hawaiian Beaches. Police say 29-year old Beke Robert Jr. was run over by a 2000 Ford Explorer he had been riding in as it backed out of a private
drive way around 2:40 a.m.
Robert was taken to Hilo Medical Center where he was pronounced dead shortly before 3:45 a.m. The vehicle’s driver, 33-year old Sonny D. Kalawe was arrested for multiple offenses, including negligent homicide, operating a vehicle under the influence and driving without a license.
