Police arrest 9 in drug investigation

(Ken Hupp - KPUA) Police say nine people were arrested last week at the scene of an indoor marijuana-growing operation they believe is part of a larger drug distribution ring.

Tips from the public led police to execute search warrants at three adjacent properties on Tiki Lane in the Ainaloa Subdivision Thursday, where they recovered various amounts of marijuana plants, dried marijuana, heroin, hashish and hyrdocodone pills in indoor growing operations at two of the properties.

53-year old Gilbert Espiritu and 56-year old Phyllis Morby, who resided at the property were charged with multiple counts of drug promotion and possession, while seven others arrested at the scene were released pending additional information.

Police also searched two homes in Hawaiian Acres and one in Hawaiian Paradise Park where they seized additional drugs from indoor growing facilities.
