(Ken Hupp - KPUA) An 18-year old Hilo man has been arrested and charged in Wednesday’s knifepoint robbery of two California visitors while camping at Kolekole Beach Park. Tyler Kamanao Taylor was arrested Friday afternoon at Rainbow Falls and charged Friday evening with first degree robbery, auto theft, property damage and multiple counts of unlawful imprisonment, theft and terroristic threatening.
One of the victims told police they were awakened by an intruder who ripped through their ten with a knife, stole numerous items and fled in their rental vehicle. Taylor is being held at the Hilo police cellblock on $121,000 bail pending today’s initial court appearance.
