Police have charged two homeless men and a North Kohala woman with various drug offenses following a traffic stop for a seat belt violation in Kapa`au last Thursday.
During the stop, patrol officers learned that the car had been reported stolen and the driver along with one passenger were wanted on bench warrants. They also found 6.4 grams of a crystalline substance and paraphernalia associated with methamphetamine use in the vehicle. 22-year old Nakalohe Gersaba, 36-year old Rico Echiverri and 24-year old Zerica Bell-Ching of Kapa`au were all charged with promoting a dangerous drug and possessing drug paraphernalia.
Gersaba was also charged with driving without a license, driving without insurance and failure to appear, while Echiverri faces additional charges of contempt of court and violating probation.
