Water restrictions extended for Waimea/South Kohala

The Department of Water Supply says dry weather conditions persist in the Waimea and South Kohala areas, which remain under a mandatory water restriction requiring consumers to cut consumption by 25-percent.

They recommend several steps including washing only full loads of laundry or dishes, checking faucets and pipes for leaks, and refraining from lawn sprinkling, car and boat washing and dust control watering. All agricultural users are being urged to keep water usage to a minimum by limiting irrigation to between 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
