21st
Annual Kamehameha Canoe Club's Canoe Regatta
or
Randy Botti paddles til he pukes!
Thanks
to everyone who came out join the fun on Sunday April 4th, 2004 at
Hilo Bay. The Kamehameha Canoe Club was kind enough to let us join
them in a day of fun that, to everyone's suprise, was sunny! (This
is Hilo, y'know..)

Beautiful
day at da beach! The nice fellow in the green hat is Mark "Sticky"
Rice from UPS. He was DC's best man at his wedding. (Although he won't
admit to it.)
Congrats
also to KWXX/B-97 Sales Forcer Randi Botti. His paddling prowess,
good nature and inability to say NO found him paddling in TEN heats!

The
Kamehameha Canoe Club Royalty. These are some of the nicest people
on the island. From left, John and Gwen Kekua and Darlene, John's
sister. Darlene is thee mistress of the judges booth. She never lost
her cool in the heat of the races.

The
view from the booth. J.E. Orozco is sitting down announcing while
Kat from KWXX does a live break for the station. (DC was helping JE,
but somebody had to take the picture..)
THE
AWARDS

Team
Tui Tonga was nothing short of impressive. Here they are accepting
the first place trophy for the "Business Men" division.
That's JE Orozco with the KWXX shirt on.

The
wahine of Thompson's Upholstery winning first place for the "Business
Women" division. JE is the lucky guy in the middle.

Two
representatives from Metzler Kona accepting first place for "Business
Mixed". Can you see JE in the picture?

Tui
Tonga also win "Intermediate Men". JE smiles fondly on them.

The
lovely wahine of Big Island Tropical accept the first place prize
for "Intermediate Women". They pretend to not notice JE.

The
Volcano "Fiya" team wins "Intermediate Mixed".
JE always wanted to be a firefighter.

JE
with Paul from Yama's "Papa's" team. They won the "Open
Mixed" division. Under his shirt, JE is sucking in his gut.

Team
Tui Tonga is back, this time winning the "Open Women" division.
And JE is there.

They
also won the "Open Mixed". JE wants you to notice the B-97
banner behind him.

The
Naniloa Hotel takes the honors of winning "Teen Mixed".
Uncle JE smiles upon them as well.

Team
Tui Tonga win the perpetual Pahu drum. If they win it three years
in a row, they keep it!
