Police are investigating a pair of weekend incidents in Hilo that reportedly involved a firearm.
The first occurred at a fast-food restaurant at the Puainako Town Center around 4:30 p.m. Saturday, where a lone male reportedly used a firearm to threaten a 33-year old Pahoa woman who was in her vehicle at the drive through window. He also threatened a 20-year old Hilo woman and demanded money, but fled the area empty-handed.
Then on Sunday, a 55-year old Hilo man was accosted while parking his vehicle in the carport of his upper Kukuau Street home by a lone male brandishing a firearm. He also threatened the victim’s 54-year old wife before fleeing the area. In both incidents, the suspect was described as possibly a local male with a fair complexion in dark clothing and concealing his face with what appeared to be a mask.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed either incident or who may have information about the identity of the suspect to call Detective Norbert Serrao Jr. at 961-2383. You can also call the Hilo or Kona Crimestoppers number.
