The Hawai`i County Council has voted to approve a bill that will limit the use of transgenic, or genetically-modified crops. The Council meeting in Kona on Tuesday voted 6-3 in favor of bill 113, which bans open air use of GMO crops with some exceptions.
Council Chair J. Yoshimoto, Dennis Fresh Onishi and Greggor opposed the measure, while Zendo Kern voted yes, with reservations. The bill now goes to Mayor Billy Kenoi for his signature. Hes expected to receive it on Thursday.
