The parent company of Queens Medical Center and the Big Islands North Hawai`i Community Hospital have entered into an affiliation agreement.
The agreement, announced on Monday will make North Hawai`i a corporate entity of Queens Health Systems on January 1, similar to an arrangement between the O`ahu hospital and Molokai General Hospital.
North Hawai`i a private non-profit acute-care hospital, opened in May 1996 and serves more than 30,000 Waimea residents. The facility has 33 licensed beds, 24 hour emergency services, 376 employees and 68 active physicians. Queen's has had a clinical affiliation with North Hawai` since 2005.
