China-Hawai`i service begins



(KPUA) Hawai`i's visitor industry has received a welcome shot in the arm with Mondays arrival of Air Chinas first non-stop flight from Beijing to Honolulu. The new three day a week service precedes Hawaiian Airlines new service between the two destinations that will also provide three flights a week beginning April 16. 

China Eastern Airlines, which flies between Honolulu and Shanghai, is the only other carrier offering nonstop service linking Hawai`i and China and increased its frequency last month to five times a week Hawai`i Tourism Authority Vice President of Brand Management David Uchiyama Says bringing in visitors from China is part of the HTAs long-term strategy to diversify departure cities in multiple major markets in Asia.
