Bird watcher rescued from Kaumana forest



A 65-year old man who got lost while bird watching in Kaumana is safe and sound after being rescued by County and Federal firefighters from Pohakuloa Training Area early Saturday. 

The man, who was visiting the island, entered the forest near the 22-mile marker shortly after 6:30 a.m. Friday and hiked for approximately four hours then got lost. 

A search began just after 8:00 p.m. Friday and ended around 1:30 a.m. Saturday when federal firefighters found the man deep in the Ohia forest and brought him out.
