(KPUA) A 20-year old Kona man has been charged with several offenses following Tuesdays early morning burglary in Kealakekua. Police were summoned to an apartment complex on Kiloa Road shortly after 4:30 a.m., where a 75-year old woman said she awoke to find an unknown man in a green hooded sweatshirt rummaging through her items.
The suspect subsequently fled and the victim discovered her purse had been removed from her truck. Officers arrested John Small of Captain Cook and recovered the victims property, along with items taken from another vehicle and 4.9 grams of marijuana. Police on Wednesday charged Small with first degree burglary, theft of a credit card, unauthorized possession of personal information, promoting a detrimental drug and two counts each of theft and unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle.
