State warns of Sheriff scam

(KPUA) The State Department of Public Safety is warning the public about a scam in which individuals are calling people, claiming to be Sheriff Deputies and serving warrants for people who did not show up for jury duty or pay a ticket, then offering to clear the warrant if people will pay for their product or service.

The department says Deputy Sheriffs will never call people about warrants concerning jury duty or solicit the purchase of anything.

If you've received a call matching this scam, call the Sheriff Division at 808 586-1352.
