New law to boast Hawaii marriage business

(KPUA) State officials say that same sex marriages account for 15-percent of the nuptials that have taken place in Hawai`i since the Marriage Equality Act went into effect.
More than 14-hundred same-sex couples have tied the knot in Hawai`i from last December 2nd, when the law took effect, through May 1. Most people who get married in Hawai`i are from out of state, but pent-up demand among mostly local residents, made December Hawai`is busiest month to date with 533 same-sex marriages.
Fees for same-sex marriage licenses as of May 1, have brought the state an additional $91,000 in revenues.
