State completes removal of grounded vessel

(KPUA) The State Department of Land and Natural Resources has completed the removal of a grounded sailboat from a coral reef off the Old Kona Aiprort and will try to dispose of it today.
The 40-foot SEAQUEL ran aground late Sunday evening, but its removal was delayed because the boats California-based owner had no vessel insurance and could not afford to pay for the salvage. Department spokeswoman Debra Ward said the state will try to collect the removal costs from the owner at a later time and added that the owner will not be cited.
