Kau brushfire scorches thousand plus acres

(KPUA) Fire officials are investigating the cause of a brushfire that burned more than 1,000 acres Sunday near South Point. A total of 25 units battled the blaze which was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m. at Kaalualu and was driven by fast moving trade winds that caused the flames to spread in a northwesterly direction. There were no injuries caused by the fire, which took firefighters nearly eight hours to bring under control.
