State issues turtle notice
(KPUA) The State Department of Land and Natural Resources has issued a statewide call asking the public to view Hawai`i sea turtles responsibly. The two types most frequently observed are the green sea turtle or honu and the hawksbill sea turtle, or ea. DLNR Director William Aila says you should never feed sea turtles, which may appear friendly or curious in the water, but can act aggressively and bite if they associate people with food. The green sea turtle is listed as threatened and the hawksbill sea turtle is listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act.
