Big Island celebrates Kamehameha Day



(KPUA) The Big Island will celebrate Kamehameha Day with events in Kohala and Hilo. 
The Kohala celebration includes this mornings lei draping of the King Kamehameha statue that has stood in Kapaau since 1912, a parade and the all-day hoolaulea at Kamehameha Park. 
Hilos observance began last night with the draping of the statue at Wailoa Park and continues with todays festival on Mokuola, Coconut Island that runs from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
