Kaumana home destroyed by fire

(KPUA) Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a Friday morning fire that destroyed a three-bedroom house in Hilos Kaumana area and threatened neighboring homes.
Units responding to an 11:41 a.m. alarm arrived to find the front half of the residence on Kualua Place, including a carport engulfed in flames, with flames and smoke also exiting through roof rafters and bedroom windows in the rear of the home.
The fire was brought under control by 12:07 p.m. and extinguished shortly after 2:00 p.m. No one was injured in the blaze that did $150,000 damage, although a 4-week-old puppy had to be rescued from one of the bedrooms.
