Hawaii hotels turn in record May



Hawaii hoteliers broke a year-long occupancy slump with three monthly performance records and achieving the nations highest room rates in May. 
Statewide occupancy rose 0.6 percent from May of last year to 72.7 percent as room revenues totaled $390 million, average daily rates exceeded $218, and revenue per available room rose 4.8 percent to $159. 
Occupancy rose on all islands, except O`ahu which remained flat at 80.5 percent, while the Big Island rate was 53.2 percent.
