52nd Annual Merrie Monarch Festival

10293824_10152388074059413_4434530030782927044_oMerrie Monarch Week! The 2015 Merrie Monarch Hula Festival is an international Hula competition that happens right here in our own Hilo, Hawaii. The hula competitions begin later this week but there are plenty of other events and things to see in celebration of the hula.

The festival started with the Ho’olaule’a on Easter Sunday at the Civic Auditorium and will culminate with a parade through Hilo town and final evening competition on Saturday.

Friday April 10th
9am – 5pm – Merrie Monarch Invitational Hawaiian Arts & Crafts Fair – Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium
10am – Hawaiian Entertainment – ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center
11am – Halau Hula O Kou Lima Nani E – Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium
12noon –Hula Halau O Kawananakoa– Hilo Naniloa Hotel
1pm –Halau Ha’a Kea ‘O Kinohi– Hilo Hawaiian Hotel
2:30pm – Hawaiian Entertainment – ‘Imiloa Astronomy Center
6pm –Hula Kahiko Competition – Edith Kanaka’ole Stadium

Saturday April 11th

9am – 4pm – Merrie Monarch Invitational Hawaiian Arts & Crafts Fair – Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium
10:30am – Royal Parade in Downtown Hilo
11am – Halau O Mailelaulani – Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium
12noon – Halau Hula O Leionalani– Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium
6pm – Hula ‘Auana Comeptition – Edith Kanaka’ole Stadium
