The National Weather Service is monitoring and tracking Tropical Depression 4E which is currently located approximately 1025 miles east/southeast of Hilo. The system currently has sustained winds of up to 35 miles per hour with higher gusts. The system is forecast to strengthen to Tropical Storm level later tonight or early tomorrow. The Civil Defense Agency will be maintaining close communication with the National Weather Service and additional updates will be made as conditions change. The community is reminded that hurricane season for Hawaii runs from June through November and everyone is encouraged to plan and prepare for all hazards that pose a threat to our community.
