Flash Flood Watch extended as Wailuku River rises

The National Weather Service Flash Flood Watch continues for the County of Hawaii.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flash flooding. Due to the Flash Flood Watch, the following advisories are issued;

· Communities along the Wailuku River at risk for flooding have been contacted in case water levels rise further and evacuation becomes necessary.

· Do not cross fast flowing water by vehicle or on foot.

· Be on the alert for run-off, ponding of water, and debris.

· A Shelter has been designated at the Butler Building at Afook Chinen Auditorium if evacuations are needed.

· Road closures in Hilo include Kamehameha Avenue, Bay Front Highway and Aupuni Street.
