As of noon Friday, March 27, 2020, the State Department of Health says the State now has 120 total confirmed cases of COVID-19. Since yesterday, 14 new cases were confirmed in the count, and 2 were added to Hawaii Island’s count, making a total of 7 cases diagnosed for Hawaii Island. The DOH count does not indicate how many have recovered or how many are still fighting the disease.
Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim’s Friday morning update said nobody on the island is hospitalized for COVID-19. Kim said there are 4 active cases on the island, all people being monitored at home.
Bruce Anderson, Director of State Department of Health, said in a State Senate briefing, that 9 new cases on O’ahu and Hawaii Island are all residents, not visitors.
Anderson said in a Friday briefing for State Senators that more than 5,000 tests have been completed, with 120 confirmed cases, and the rest being negative. There are at least 1,500 more tests that have been done by Clinical Laboratories and not yet reported.
