At a drive-through COVID-19 event in Hilo near the Civic Auditorium on Sunday, 350 people were screened, and 70 met the criteria for testing.
At a similar event at Old Kona Airport on Saturday, between 350 and 375 were screened and 174 were tested.
Those who met the criteria for testing were told to self-quarantine for 14 days. The test results should come back in 7 to 14 days.
Criteria for testing, as determined by medical screeners, includes having symptoms such as dry cough and fever, loss of senses of smell and taste, red eyes, exposure to a confirmed COVID-19 victim, travel history, frequency of exposure to visitors from outside Hawaii, and frequency of exposure to vulnerable or high-risk populations.
There will be additional pop-up clinics. Additionally, screenings and tests are being done at
–North Hawaii Community Hospital, at the main hospital, screenings and testing without a doctor’s order, Monday through Saturday, 10 am – 2 pm.
–Puna Community Medical Center, doing both screening and testing with no doctor’s order required, Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm excluding state holiday.
–Hilo Medical Center is open weekdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. HMC does require a lab order from a physician for the test.
–West Hawaii Community Health Center, on its website, says they are testing patients for COVID-19 once the provider determines testing is warranted. The testing triage tent is at the main location at the corner of Kuakini and Hualalai. You will register as a patient at WHCHC and then go through the screening which will determine whether you’re a candidate for testing.
–Kona Community Hospital is testing only in-hospital patients and those who present to the emergency room with COVID-19 symptoms, but is not offering tests to the general public as are the other locations
