The Hawaii Island Humane Society is looking for foster homes for cats and dogs. Last week, 83 pets went to foster homes and 41 pets were adopted.
The Humane Society’s shelters in Kona, Waimea, and Kea’au are fully staffed for animal care, but are closed to the public, as are the dog parks. They have to make room for new animals, so are asking people in the community to consider fostering a pet….perhaps as a way to get to know whether the pet might find a “forever home” with you.
All pets may be seen online at hihs.org. That includes cats and dogs. The Humane Society notes that this is “kitten season,” so they are expecting to receive an influx of baby cats. The pets are also available to be adopted.

The HIHS reminds animals owner to spay and neuter their pets so fewer animals become unwanted and then either are abandoned or may end up being euthanized if unadoptable.
