Elmo gets a goodnight lullaby from Andrea Bocelli

Some of the simplest things can be comforting in the time of COVID-19…and humor helps, too.  Elmo gets a Saturday night song, the night before Easter, an original lullaby by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli on Sesame Street.   “Time to Say Goodnight” is a rework of “Time to Say Goodbye,” which Bocelli has sung solo and as a duet.

The song’s original version was “Con te Partiro”,  an Italian song written by Francesco Sartori (music) and Lucio Quarantotto (lyrics).  It was first performed by Andrea Bocelli at the 1995 Sanremo Music Festival, and recorded on his album, Bocelli.  Bocelli later recorded it as a duet with soprano Sarah Brightman, partly in Italian and partly in English.

Andrea Bocelli lost his sight as a child.
