Hawaii State Department of Health says since Monday, the state has 13 new positive COVID-19 cases. There have been no additional deaths, so the death toll stands at 9. Of the new cases, 12 are Hawaii residents, and one is a non-resident. Six of the new cases are on O’ahu, 2 on Maui, and 1 on Hawaii Island. The cumulative cases in the state now stands at 517.
Of the 517 cases, 333 people have recovered and have been released from quarantine.
Hawaii Island’s total case count is 41, including the one new case reported today. Mayor Harry Kim said on Tuesday morning that 28 of those people have recovered and have been cleared from quarantine from the State Department of Health.
Kim also confirmed that there is a cluster of 8 cases associated with a fast-food, drive-through restaurant in Kailua-Kona. He said the first positive case was confirmed on Thursday, April 9, and other employees and family members of the first victim were tested, though he could not say how many total people were tested. Kim said he was informed by the State Department of Health early Saturday morning, April 11, of the cluster. Kim said those numbers have already been included in the official State DOH reports. He said none of the victims needed hospitalization.
Mayor Kim said the restaurant closed on Friday and is undergoing disinfection.
