Hawaii Island Food Basket is distributing food today at Kea’au High School from 10 til noon, or until supplies run out.
On Thursday, Hawaii Food Basket will distribute food at Waimea District Park from 10 a.m. until noon.
Food Basket Executive Director Kristin Frost Albrecht says most food pantries and community feeding locations throughout the island have closed because of COVID-19. At these locations, people are asked to drive in and volunteers will put food in their cars to avoid person-to-person contact. Everybody should still have face coverings or masks.
The demand has grown for the services of the Food Basket. They welcome donations online at hawaiifoodbasket.org or via check to Hawaii Island Food Basket, 40 Holomua Street, Hilo, HI 96720. Their phone number is 808-933-6030.
