KC 135 to fly over Big Island today as salute to healthcare workers

Expect to see a big military plane–the KC135–flying over the Big Island today starting at around 12:15 p.m.   The Hawai‘i Air National Guard and 15th Wing Active Duty Airmen from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam are flying a KC135, a C17, and F22s over hospitals on all islands  in a salute to all frontline workers battling COVID-19, as well as those staying at home to “flatten the curve of transmission” of the virus.

The flight altitude should be between 2,500 and 3,500 feet, lower than usual.

The KC135 will start on O’ahu, and is expected to reach the Big Island hospitals as follows:

North Hawaii Community Hospital–12:20 p.m.

Hilo Medical Center–12:31 p.m.

Kona Community Hospital–1:20 p.m.
