Although the U.S. case count continues to increase, as do deaths, most people recover from COVID-19.
Hawaii has what Lt. Gov. Josh Green, M.D., calls a “flat curve,” with single digit increases for two weeks, and 17 deaths. The State Department of Health reported that as of noon on Thursday, the state has 647 overall cases, with 579 released from isolation and 68 cases still being monitored–including 6 on Hawaii Island. In one week, Hawaii Island’s case count jumped from 75 to 82, according to DOH.
As of now, O’ahu has 416 cases, Maui County has 118, and Kaua’i has 21, cumulative. L.G. Green says most of those who have had to be hospitalized for COVID–83 in total–have been released from the hospital or are among those who passed away.
Because of the stable case count in the state, Gov. Ige says the Mayors may decide–with his concurrence–how and when to reopen businesses and restaurants in their counties.
