Honolulu Mayor online forum today at 1

If you are interested in looking at the candidates who are running for Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, 8 of them will take part in an online forum today at 1 p.m.

Although Hawaii County residents have no say in who becomes the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu, the island of O’ahu has the largest population in the state at nearly 1 million, and what happens on O’ahu can affect the rest of the state.

Current Mayor Kirk Caldwell is currently in his second term, and is therefore ineligible to run for a third term.

The Kokua Council, an Oahu-based advocacy group, is hosting the forum.  Candidates listed on its Facebook page as taking part are:

-Keith Amemiya, businessman and former state high school athletics chief

-Rick Blangiardi, former general manager of Hawaii News Now

-Ernest David Kaimana Caravalho, Chinatown community leader and Kalihi native

-John Carroll, a former State Senator and lawyer

-Karl Dicks, metal fabricator and advocate for “restoring family, integrity and aloha”

-Colleen Hanabusa, former U.S. Representative and Honolulu council member

-Choon James, businesswoman and activist

-Kymberly Pine, Honolulu council member.

The forum will live stream on the Kokua Council Facebook page from 1 p.m. until 2:30 today.   To watch, go to www.facebook.com/KokuaCouncil
