Strange debit card in the mail? Don’t toss it!

If you get an unsolicited debit card in the mail and you have not received an electronic deposit of the Federal Stimulus Funds into your bank account–don’t throw that card away.  It is probably your stimulus payment, the direct payments authorized by Congress to help during the COVID-19 economic downturn.

The IRS says around 4 million people did not have their bank account information with the IRS.  The IRS says the cards arrive in an envelope from “Money Network Cardholder Services.”  The Visa name will appear on the front of the card; the back of the card has the name of the issuing bank, MetaBank®, N.A.  Information included with the card will explain that the card is your Economic Impact Payment Card.  The IRS says to EIPcard.com for more information.

There’s more at the IRS website.
