U.S. cases and deaths jump–deaths at 112,402

The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Wednesday morning, June 10, at 7:33 a.m.:

Worldwide cases: 7,283,709    Worldwide deaths:  412,745

U.S. cases:  1,989,521   U.S. deaths:  112,402

According to the Dashboard, the United States has added 23,836 cases in the last 24 hours, and deaths attributed to COVID-19 have increased by 1,208.  These numbers are a notable increase since the day before, which showed an increase of cases of just over 15,000 and deaths just over 500.  Worldwide, deaths increased by nearly 5,000.

Although Hawaii has added 27 cases to its count since Friday, most are on O’ahu.  Officials believe those cases may be the result of Memorial Day or graduation gatherings, or people getting together to demonstrate and not staying distant from each other and in some cases, not wearing masks.   Hawaii Island has no active cases.

Lt. Gov. Dr. Josh Green stresses that the state has adequate hospital, ICU, and ventilator supply to handle a surge.
