US case count jumps by nearly 30K in one day

The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Saturday morning, June 13, at 7:33 a.m.:

Worldwide cases:   7,713,571  Worldwide deaths:  427,578

U.S. cases: 2,061,005     U.S. deaths: 115,036

According to the Dashboard, the United States has added 29,832 cases in the last 24 hours, and deaths attributed to COVID-19 have increased by 971.  The case count is notably higher than the average of around 21,000 for the past 14 days.  The increase in deaths is about average.

Hawaii had its first two-digit increase — 15 cases– in a month.  The total Hawaii case count is 706, with 627 released from isolation.  Thirteen of the 15 new cases, which were all on O’ahu, are related to four known cases or ongoing investigations. Ten of the cases are part of a family cluster in the same household. Of the new cases, 9 are adults, and 6 are children.   State Health Director Bruce Anderson said on Friday that the household with 10 cases includes a total of 14 people, and the State DOH is moving those not infected to a hotel to help them avoid infection.
