World and US cases increase steadily

The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Tuesday morning, June 16, at 8:33 a.m.:

Worldwide cases:  8,084,396 Worldwide deaths:  438,399

U.S. cases: 2,123,124     U.S. deaths: 116,567

According to the Dashboard, the United States has added 20,359 cases in the last 24 hours, and deaths attributed to COVID-19 have increased by 705.  The case count is consistent with the two-week average, and the death count is slightly below the average.  The deaths from COVID since February have now surpassed the U.S. deaths from battle and other causes among soldiers serving in World War I.

Experts are noting that the cases in the U.S. are at a plateau, even though in some states –Florida, Texas, and Arizona have been cited — the cases are markedly increasing.
