Food basket, La‘i‘Ōpua 2020 food options this week

People on the island have several options this week on where and how to pick up food.

Today:  La‘i‘Ōpua 2020 will give away one bag of fresh produce per vehicle at the La‘i‘Ōpua 2020 Community Center, 74-5210 Keanalehu Drive, just above Kealakehe High School, starting at 5 p.m.

Wednesday:  Hawaii Island Food Basket food drop, with a variety of food that will be placed in your vehicle, at Kamehamameha Park in Kapa’au, North Kohala, starting at 10 a.m.

Thursday, July 16:  La‘i‘Ōpua 2020 will provide one bag with all the ingredients needed to make a delicious enchilada casserole serving 6 to 8 people, one per vehicle, at the La‘i‘Ōpua 2020 Community Center, 74-5210 Keanalehu Drive, just above Kealakehe High School, starting at 5 p.m.

Friday, July 17:  Hawaii Island Food Basket food drop, with a variety of food that will be placed in your vehicle, at two places:

Hookena Elementary School, starting at 10am

Pahoa Community Center, starting at 10 a.m.

Community organizations around the island are working to help provide food for the many, many people on the island who need it.
