State cancels contaminated water advisory for Kailua Bay

The State Department of Health on Wednesday at 2 p.m. says the advisory for Kailua Bay has been cancelled.

On Saturday, July 11, around 20,000 gallons of sewage spilled into the Bay when a sewer line on Ali’i Drive close to Hulihe’e Palace broke.  Swimmers were told to get out of the water and workers cleaned up Ali’i Drive within around 4 or 5 hours.

Both Dr. Scott Miscovich and Dr. Rick Bennett felt there was minimal danger to people who had been in the water with minimal contact with the spill.  For the original story and short interviews with Dr. Scott Miscovich, M.D. on the possibility of spreading COVID-19 via sewage and with Dr. Rick Bennett, PhD, about other health and environmental impacts, click here.
