COVID cases in US at 3.67M, deaths 139,532, and Hawaii suffers another death

The Johns Hopkins COVID-19 Dashboard for Saturday morning, July 18, at 7:35 a.m.:

Worldwide cases:  14,119,763      Worldwide deaths:  597,861

U.S. cases: 3,672,947   U.S. deaths: 139,532   

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide cases increased by 230,889 in the last 24 hours, and 5,142 deaths due to COVID-19 were reported.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 66,020  cases in the last 24 hours, and deaths attributed to COVID-19 have increased by 748.    The United States has just over one quarter of all the cases in the world.

In Hawaii, State Health Department officials announced that an elderly woman on O’ahu died Friday evening of COVID-19, bringing the state’s death toll from the disease to 24.  The state has 1,334 cumulative cases, with 994 released from monitoring and isolation.   The Big Island has 109 cumulative cases.  This morning’s Civil Defense update indicated there are 12 active cases, and one hospitalization.

There are 3 employees at Kona Community Hospital known to have COVID-19, and the hospital, Premier Medical Group, and Hawaii County, with assistance from the National Guard, have set up a special test site today at West Hawaii Civic Center until noon.
