U.S. cases:  5,168,685     U.S. deaths: 165,270

According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide cases increased by 260,096 in the last 24 hours.  The worldwide death toll in the past two days increased by 6,325.

According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 54,779 cases in the last 24 hours, and reported deaths attributed to COVID-19 have increased by 1,169.

As of Tuesday, Hawaii had 3,756 total cases of COVID-19, with 2,095 active COVID-19 cases statewide.  The report on Tuesday for Hawaii Island was 133 cumulative cases with 16 active.

The state lost two more people to COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the state’s total to 36.  State DOH said those deaths will be in today’s noon update.  DOH says both were elderly O’ahu men.

The interisland mandatory 14-day quarantine is in effect again effective yesterday for any travel to a neighbor island.  Gov. David Ige had each island set its own rules for any exemptions to the 14-day quarantine.  For the Big Island, click here.  For Maui County and Kaua’i, click here.  Travel to O’ahu does not require an interisland travel quarantine, but the mandatory 14-day quarantine for anybody coming in from out of state is still in effect.  All interisland travelers must still complete the mandatory State Department of Health form within 24 hours of traveling.

Tuesday at noon, the Hawaii State Teachers Association held a news conference and said there have been cases of COVID-19 reported in teachers or staff at 9 schools, including Hilo Intermediate, since teachers reported back to work.  Shortly thereafter, the State Department of Education said that neighbor island schools will initially resume school only online, as O’ahu is doing, for at least the first four weeks.

After reports Friday from the State Senate Select Committee on COVID-19 members that the State Department of Health does not have the 105 tracers in place that they’ve said they had, neither Gov. David Ige nor State Health Director Bruce Anderson has made a response to the claim.
