Hawaii adds all-time high of 355 new cases, 4 Big Island, plus 2 new deaths

The State Department of Health says the noon report today will include 355 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state.  Four of the new cases are on the Big Island.  Maui has 7 new cases, Kaua’i has 1 new.  The rest, 343, are on O’ahu.

The state is reporting two additional deaths, both men over 60 years old.   O‘ahu Community Correctional Facility has 116 cases, 24 staff and 92 inmates.

The State and City & County of Honolulu are working with the Institute for Human Services (IHS) Sumner Men’s Shelter in Iwilei to isolate and quarantine individuals at the shelter, with 20 cases under investigation.   The Institute for Human Services Sumner Men’s Shelter in Iwilei is being temporarily established as a quarantine and isolation facility after 7 new cases were identified through the latest round of testing.

The DOH is also continuing its epidemiological investigation into a cluster of cases at Honolulu Hale, which now totals 11 individuals.  DOH says the cases are traced to gatherings at the city headquarters.
