According to the Dashboard, the reported worldwide case report increased by 262,196 in the last 23 hours. Deaths worldwide increased by more than 3,000 in each of the last two days.
According to the Johns Hopkins Dashboard, the United States has added 39,402 cases in the last 23 hours. In that time, the number of reported deaths from COVID-19 increased by 1,096. Nationwide, cases and deaths seem to be stabilizing (not stopping, but not increasing at the same pace as weeks ago).
Hawaii continues to struggle with ever-increasing cases on O’ahu. In good news, yesterday’s case count increase was 134, the second lowest daily increase since August 2. But the state still has more than 3,387 known active cases, with more than 3,200 of them on O’ahu. In response to the case increase on O’ahu, Gov. David Ige and Honolulu City and County Mayor Kirk Caldwell have announced new restrictions for the island of O’ahu, to include limiting gatherings to no more than 5 no matter where, and requiring face masks everywhere. The Big Island, as of Tuesday afternoon, had 22 active cases out of 152 total cases.
Hawaii has had 41 deaths, the latest a man on O’ahu between the ages of 40 and 59. On the mainland, Florida became the fifth state to suffer more than 10,000 deaths, joining New York, California, New Jersey, and Texas.
