County adding COVID testing — Sat Waikoloa and Hilo

Premier Medical Group will provide free COVID-19 testing in Hilo on Saturday, August 29 at Prince Kuhio Shopping Center at the Ohuohu Street parking lot (across from Macy’s Menswear Department wing.), and at Waikoloa Elementary School.

Both testings are drive through and will go from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

No insurance is necessary to be tested, but please bring your insurance card if you have one.

Please be sure to wear a face covering at all times, and observe social distancing.

People around the island are urged to get tested if they have been at large gatherings, especially if not everybody was wearing a mask and not staying away from each other.   It is not necessary to have active symptoms, but if you do have symptoms or believe you have been in close contact with somebody with COVID-19, consider getting tested.

Ali’i Health Center at Keauhou Shopping Center is continuing to test people Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 until noon.  This morning, the cars were lined up the upper access to Keauhou Shopping Center and up to Kamehameha III Road in line to get tested.  (Photo)

As of Thursday’s State Department of Health noon report, Hawaii Island has 96 people known to be actively ill with COVID-19, and every day more cases have been added.  Hilo Medical Center had 14 patients hospitalized as of yesterday with COVID-19, with 4 in the ICU and 10 in the COVID-19 Pod.  All COVID-19 patients are isolated from others.

There were test sites set up Monday and Thursday this week in Keaukaha.  The test results from Monday have been coming back, and test results from yesterday will be counted in a few days, if there were people testing positive.
