Big Island: 14 new COVID cases, 277 active–state up 164

The State Department of Health reports there are 164 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the total count to 9,855 with around 6,779  active cases.

The report says as the result of updated information, one case from Maui and one case from Hawaii were removed from the counts, and one case from Honolulu was re-categorized to Kauai.

The Big Island has 14 new cases, with a cumulative total of 506 cases.  There are around 277 active cases.   There have been 5 deaths reported by Hilo Medical Center as a result of COVID-19, although the State DOH report still shows 3.

As of Saturday afternoon, there was 1 patient in Kona Community Hospital, 13 in Hilo Medical Center, and none at North Hawaii Community Hospital with COVID-19.  The information was provided directly by the facilities.

Kaua’i has 1 new case.  Maui County has 2 new cases.  O’ahu has 147 new cases.
