State adds only 56 COVID–Big Island adds 7

The State Department of Health reports only 56 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state today, bringing the total to 11,459.  The state is counting 120 confirmed deaths, although that does not include all the Hawaii County deaths.  The number of active cases in the state has dropped to approximately 6,451.

Neither Maui County nor Kaua’i have any new cases today.  The new cases include 49 for O’ahu and 7 for the Big Island.  As of last Friday, the State DOH reported that Hawaii County also had 8 “probable” cases.

The Big Island’s total case count is 651, with around 165 active cases.  Hilo Medical Center announced Sunday evening that the death toll from COVID-19 on the island was 26 after another two residents of the Yukio Okutsu Veterans Home passed away on Sunday.  Two of the deaths on the island have been unrelated to the Veterans Home.
