COVID testing today and tomorrow in Kona

Hawaii County Mayor Harry Kim, alarmed at the spread of cases on the island and now especially in West Hawaii, is urging people to get tested for COVID-19 if they have any inkling at all about being exposed to COVID-19 either knowingly or in the community.

There is free testing today at Ali’i Health Center at Keauhou Shopping Center, in a drive-through testing behind the Regal Cinemas, from 9 a.m. until noon.  Enter the parking lot by turning into Keauhou Shopping Center from Kamehameha III Road.

There will be free testing on Saturday at West Hawaii Civic Center from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  That is also drive through, conducted by Premier Medical Group.

This morning’s Hawaii County Civil Defense message said there will also be drive through testing at Kamakoa Nui Park in Waikoloa Village from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Although testing is free, you’re asked to bring insurance information if you have it.  And please wear a mask.

Attached photo is from a previous testing at Keauhou Shopping Center.   Below photo is of Kona resident Claudia Kane, who was tested there in advance of a trip to the mainland and said the procedure was quick and efficient (though it does involve the deep nasal swab, considered the current best COVID-19 test).  She tested negative.
