14 COVID patients at two island hospitals

Two of the island’s hospitals have provided a COVID-19 a patient update.

HILO MEDICAL CENTER UPDATE (as of 2:30 pm on Monday, October 12, 2020)

  • Hilo Medical Center is resuming limited visitation. From 3:00-7:00 pm daily, one visitor per patient per day is allowed. No visitation allowed in the Emergency Department and also for hospitalized COVID patients.
  • 8 total COVID-positive patients are hospitalized: 1 in ICU, 7 in COVID Unit
  • Hilo Medical Center’s Extended Care Facility is now considered COVID-free. Admissions have resumed.
  • 6 total community deaths related to COVID-19 occurred at the hospital on Sept. 8 and 18, Oct. 4, 6, 7, and 8.

 

KONA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL UPDATE (as of 4:30 pm on Monday, October 12, 2020)

  • 6 total COVID-positive patients are hospitalized: 3 are on ventilator
  • 1 total death has occurred in the hospital on October 5th

 

The Big Island has had 37 total deaths related to COVID-19  – 6 community members at the Hilo Medical Center, 1 community members at the Kona Community Hospital, 3 from Life Care Center, per their website, 27 from the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home.
